Audrey Campbell

d. May 7, 2008

Audrey Duke Campbell, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully away into her Heavenly Father’s arms on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. She was 94 years old. Audrey was born July 9, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John James Duke and Marie Hamilton Duke. Audrey was the youngest of four children and had fond memories of growing up in the Avenues of Salt Lake City. She enjoyed ice-skating and playing tennis at Liberty Park. She graduated from West High School and went on to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. Audrey met her eternal sweetheart, Clyde W. Campbell while attending a church dance. They were married July 15, 1933 and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children. Audrey was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints fulfilling many callings in both ward and stake leadership positions. Some of her fondest memories were those of serving in these church callings. Audrey served a mission with her husband in the Alaska Juno Mission. She spent her life in service to others, leaving her family with a legacy of faith and testimony. Audrey loved to garden, crochet, bowl, make ceramics, read and tole-paint. She spent hours cooking and planning for family activities and reunions. In her family’s eyes, she was the best when it came to planning and performing skits at these marvelous reunions. Audrey is survived by four of her children who will greatly miss her, Julene Marie Anderson, Linda Lillian Eversole Len, Joel William Campbell Linda, Gloria Kay Hansen Terry; daughter-in-law, Nancy Campbell; 22 grandchildren and 97 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Clyde; son, David Clyde Campbell; son-in-law Kay L. Anderson; 2 great-grandchildren; her parents; brothers, Vaughn Duke, Jay Duke; and sister, Bessie Smith. The family wishes to thank Russon Brothers Mortuary for their tender service in behalf of this great lady. We also give gratitude to the hospice service that rendered tremendous care, and the patrons at Barton Creek who loved her and brought joy to her life. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the West Bountiful 7th Ward Chapel, 311 North 800 West, where the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. prior to services.
