Annette Ririe Turner

August 17, 1945 — July 14, 2022

Annette Ririe Turner passed on July 14, 2022. She was born in Lewiston, Utah, to VaLera Dixon and Martin Clarence Ririe on August 17, 1945. Annette was the fourth of five children, following Farrell, Richard, Craig, and followed by Kent.

Her father was tired of the snow in Utah, so the family moved to San Bernardino, California, where she graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1963. She married Ronald Morris Turner in May 1964. They raised five sons. Robert Morris was born June 23, 1965. Reed Martin was born June 28, 1967. Ryan Michael was born April 29, 1969. Rhett Marshall was born March 24, 1972. Rick Mathew was born February 10, 1979.

The family moved to Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and eventually Ron and Annette moved back to Utah in 2002. Annette was involved in many plays in community theatre, starring in the Music Man in Ohio. She directed and acted and worked in set design, costumes, and whatever needed to be done to get the play through opening night. She was instrumental in bringing back theatre arts to her sons’ high school in Wisconsin. Specifically musical productions, taking on the likes of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers her first year and eventually West Side Story, plus many other big show musical productions.

After the move back to Utah, Annette returned to Brigham Young University to finish her degree in theatre arts, and graduated at age 62. Not just anyone graduates college while eligible for Social Security. After graduation, Annette worked as a substitute teacher and especially enjoyed working with the special needs students. She shared her love for learning, theatre arts, and just her all around wonderful spirit with everyone she came across. She was so excited to get an opportunity to work on staff with the 2002 Winter Olympics. She was happy to share her enthusiasm and Olympic spirit with everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and VaLera Ririe, one brother Farrel Ririe, one son Reed Martin Turner and daughter-in-law Amy Liberty Turner. She is survived by her husband Ronald Morris Turner, sister-in-law Monta Ririe, brothers Richard (Laraine), Craig (Becky), Kent (Marval) Ririe, sons Rob (Addy), Ryan (Amy), Rhett (Eliisa), and Rick Turner, grandchildren Keena (Jordan) Coniglio, Keef (Kathy) Turner, Tikkanen (Erin) Turner, Temree and Zenali (Kurtis Epps) Turner, daughter-in-law Lisa Turner, Josh, Luke, Emma and Sadie Turner, Bronnson (Brooklyn) Turner, Bailley (Matt Mcleroy) Turner, Gavin Turner, Kiki Crum, Walker Crum, Kya (Ryan) Kraus, Kasey (Carli) Turner, Kortland Turner, Zackary (Briana) Turner, Mackenzy Turner, Brooklyn Turner, Johnny, Joseph, Samuel, and Elizabeth Turner and 13 great-grandchildren.
