Anne Catherine Knighton-Perez

November 19, 1991 — March 16, 2021

On March 16, 2021, God called one of His sweetest angels home—and He is likely anticipating trouble. Knowing Anne Knighton-Perez, she was stomping her foot every step of the way.

Anne was born on November 19, 1991 in Provo, UT. She grew up in Minnesota and enjoyed several close friendships there. It was in Kindergarten that she first demonstrated Shakespeare’s descriptive words, “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” When a foolish classmate began to pick on her, she grabbed an apple and threw it so hard it shattered on the cabinet near his head.

It was in High School that we saw her tenacity truly emerge. She played the flute and auditioned for the elite band four times before they cried, “Mercy” and let her in. Anne immediately followed that achievement with challenge after challenge to move up her flute chair placement in the Ensemble. You could say no to Anne, but no way were you going to outlast her saying YES!

When Anne realized she would never grow taller than five feet, she began wearing the highest platform heels. Despite being raised in a family of casual neutrals, Anne wore leopard spots, shiny red, and the blingiest earrings. After Mom encouraged her to tone down her makeup, the eyebrows got fuller, the lips got redder, and the eyeliner wings got wingier. Anne learned at a young age that she would not be able to bear children; so she doubled down and became a passionate Pre-School teacher.

Anne’s preschool children loved her laugh, her energy, her hugs, and her beautiful long hair. They complained if she ever rushed to their class without doing her full make-up. They loved her singing, her animated storytelling, and her cat, Ziva–who would show up randomly on screen during stay-at-home lessons.

Anne fangirled for Harry Potter books, Broadway Musicals, Jane Austen, Cats, and Chocolate. She often joked that she would become the crazy cat lady as soon as she had enough money, books, and cats collected. Wonderfully instead, Anne met Josh, the love of her life, and married him on August 22, 2020. They loved spending every moment together, including a fabulous performance as Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol. Anne’s final days were spent on a honeymoon trip with Josh to Las Vegas, where she finally got to stay in a castle, and take a romantic gondola ride with her husband.

Anne loved every member of her family and her new family deeply. She was so happy when holidays and events brought her family members together. We can hardly say we have survived her, for we all feel completely broken; yet, like Anne, we trust in Christ and in His promises. Anne will be missed every moment by her husband, Josh Perez, her parents, Andrew and Catherine Knighton, her siblings Daniel, Jeremiah (Erin), and Ella, and by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends, until the fulfillment of our hope to be reunited with her again.

As a final gift, Anne has participated as an organ donor, and is expected to bless the lives of many others through her generous wishes.

Anne’s service will be held Monday, March 22, at 2:00, at Russon Mortuary, 1941 N Main St, Farmington. Her viewing will be at the Mortuary from 12:30-2:00. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed from the Russon Mortuary facebook page
