Anna Johan Beutel Honey Gibb

July 29, 1937 — June 11, 2022

Anna Johan Beutel Honey Gibb returned home to the open arms of her Heavenly Father on June 11, 2022, surrounded by her 7 children and youngest Sister. Johan was born on July 29, 1937, in Miami Arizona. She was the oldest daughter of Kurt Emil and Mildred Lewis Beutel. She has two sisters, Elizabeth Jane Hutchison (BJ) and Meredith Sanders. Johan was a perfect example of a caring big sister, who loved her family. Johan has a beautiful smile and a fun personality. Anyone who met her, loved her.

Johan loved animals, and she was known to bring stray dogs and cats home despite her father’s disapproval. She played the violin and bass fiddle in the orchestra and enjoyed singing. She played the piano and taught herself how to play the organ. She continued to play the organ in her home ward for decades and in the temple weekly. Johan loved sports and played on volleyball teams, softball teams, and basketball teams.

She graduated from Miami High School in 1955 and loved her classmates. She stayed in touch with her high school friends and attended their annual reunions in Arizona until 2019. She graduated from BYU in 1959, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and in that same year, she married her first husband, Bruce Alden Honey in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They were blessed with 7 children: Randall (Janet) Honey, Teresa Tippetts, Diane (Craig) Jones, Ron Honey, Linda (Grant) Horsley, Shane (April) Honey, and Lisa Tippetts. She spent many years teaching in the Davis County School District as a Special Education teacher and loved working with the students.

In 1991, she married Golden Boyd Gibb. They served a mission together in Raleigh, North Carolina, from February 2000 to August 2001. She and Boyd were faithful temple workers for many years. Johan served as a guide on Temple Square and at the Lion House in Downtown Salt Lake.

Johan loved her 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. She also loved her 8 stepchildren and spouses: Randal & Diane Gibb, Theodora & Bryan Colton, Christine & David Bradford, Dianne & Brent Russon, Sherry & Scott Russon, Denise & Russell McNeill, Leslie & Ron Burt, Kim & Joseph Tibbitts;, 38 step grandchildren, 124 step great grandchildren, and 9 step great great grandchildren. Johan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Boyd, her sister, BJ, daughter-in-law, Denise, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the North Canyon 5th Ward, 2505 South Davis Blvd., Bountiful, Utah where a viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Services will be streamed live on Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
