Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Alta Holbrook Taylor, 87, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007 from complications of a recent pneumonia. Alta was born the 5th of 7 children to Mark Cook Holbrook and Sarah Rampton Holbrook. She married her sweetheart J. Allen Taylor on September 21, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were lifetime residents of Bountiful. Alta was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, and most recently her husband in Feb 2005. She is survived by 4 children: Carylyn Garth Nelson, Camille Nelson Ardean Child, Mark Carrie Taylor, Robert Janet Taylor, 25 grandchildren, and 20 great grand children. Alta served honorably in many church callings including: Primary President, Young Women?s President, Relief Society Counselor, and Teacher. She was the first ward Primary President in the Church to establish Cub Scouting. She loved genealogical work. She served many years as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Bountiful and Salt Lake Temples. As a young woman she attended Davis High School, BYU and business college. Many life long friends still called her the prettiest girl on campus. She spent many years helping, working, and co-owning the family business, Lakewoods Home Furnishings. Alta had many valued hobbies, interests and talents including real estate investing, dental and medical assisting, and furniture retailing. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Jasmine Literary Club, and PTA President. Alta always maintained a beautiful home and gardens. As a mother she taught her children the gospel by word and deed and exemplified a strong and cheerful work ethic. She was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her entire life. She loved and is loved by her immediate family, in-laws, nieces, nephews and life-long friends and neighbors. Alta lived an exemplary life and will be missed greatly. She has returned with honor, and we look forward to the day when we can again be reunited with her. Funeral services will be held Thursday February 15, 2007 at 12:00pm at the Bountiful 9th Ward Chapel, 585 East Center Street, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:30 ?8:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment?Bountiful City Cemetery.
