Alice Binning Webster

d. December 30, 2008

Alice Johnson Binning Webster passed away December 30, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah after a brief illness. Alice was born September 14, 1916 in Cowley, Wyoming to John Edward and Inez Geraldine Johnson. She was the 7th child and last survivor of a family of 10 children. When she was seven years olds, her mother passed away and though she grew up in Wyoming, she also spent some time living with her older sisters and actually graduated from high school in Gordon, Nebraska. In 1936 she married Wayne Binning and they had one son, Raymong &qoute;Buddy&qoute; Johnson Binning deceased 2003. Wayne was killed in an oil well accident in 1942 and shortly after his death, Alice moved with her son to Salt Lake City, Utah where she attended business college. She met Dean Porter Webster at a local dance and they were married in Preston, Idaho in 1945. They lived in Salt Lake until 1956 when they purchased their home in Bountiful, where she lived until the last three months of her life. Her second husband, Dean passed away in June 2004 after an illness. Alice worked for the Salt Lake School District as a secretary until she retired. Her last position, and most memorable, was at West High School. She loved children, and the though she served in many callings in her church, her favorite was teaching the Sunbeams. She enjoyed singing and claimed to have a three octave range. Her singing entertained many, especially the nurses who cared for her during her last months. Alice is survived by her grandchildren: Les Emeline Binning of Bountiful, Utah ; Honey Reid of Unity, Maine; Dawn Jess Gibbs of Pacific Grove, California; Elizabeth Binning of Piedmont, California and Amber Dan Brown of South Lake Tahoe, California. She has thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many wonderful nieces and nephews from the Johnson family; in-laws from the Webster family; and two daughters-in-law; Ann Binning and Ora Joan Bridges. The family would like to thank the terrific staffs at the South Davis Community Hospitals and the members of the Bountiful 11th Ward for the many hours of love and services. A viewing will be held Monday, January 5th, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. A private graveside dedication will be held at the Lovell City Cemetery, Wyoming, prior to interment.
