Adrian DeJong 91 of Farmington, Utah passed away in his sleep on October 21, 2006. Adrian was born the tenth of eleven children on March 9, 1915, in Rotterdam, Zuid, Holland to parents Cornelis and Adriana Versteeg DeJong. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1923. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 31, 1923. He met his sweetheart and future wife, Dorothy Francis Shrope, at Lagoon?s dance hall. They were married on October 16, 1933 in Farmington, Utah and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 24, 1945. Later that same year, they purchased and ran a dairy farm in Farmington where he lived until his death. Ade and Dot were married for 71 wonderful years. Dorothy passed away on Mother?s Day, 2005. Adrian was a hard worker who never sat idle. He worked at Fort Douglas a mechanic for several years as well as the Portland cement plant, and Smoot Dairy. In addition to running his own dairy farm, he also worked for 33 years for Utah State University?s Agricultural Farm, located in Farmington. He loved taking care of his gardens and orchard and sharing the bounty with friends and neighbors. Adrian was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish with his family and marveled at the natural world. He always took his children and grandchildren with him and instilled a passion for the outdoors in all of them. He provided countless hours of service to Utah?s wildlife through his work with the Davis County Wildlife Federation and Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his children Paul Jo of Farmington, Utah, Patricia of Farmington, Utah, Barbara Bernard Hammer of Oxnard, California, Gary Debbie of Farmington, Utah; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife and parents; four sisters, Teuntje Dejong Sluijters, Margje died in infancy, Margje DeJong Jacketta, and Adriana died in childhood; six brothers, Cornelis Jr., Jan, Aart died in infancy, Aart, Bastiaan, and Leendert; and two children, Adrian Jr. and Richard. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Farmington City Cemetery. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 am at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main.
