Our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away on November 28, 2019. Ronald Smith Stoddart was born April 13, 1945 to James Royle and Vivian Ethel Smith Stoddart in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ron graduated from Granite High School and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission. After his mission, he joined the US Army Reserves and married the love of his life, Mary Lorraine Chapman. Ron served faithfully in many callings in the church. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was an amazing example of Christlike charity to all around him. He was a mentor, hero and second father to dozens of young men besides his own sons. He would do anything for anyone, and was called upon for help often.
He loved fishing, camping, motorcycles, skiing and 4-wheeling in one of the many Toyota Land Cruisers he restored over the years. He spent many summers cutting and hauling firewood. He loved summers in Jackson Hole with his family. He was recognized as the guy with the piercing blue eyes, baseball cap and friendly smile. He was an incredibly hard worker and rarely sat still. He always had a project to work on and something to keep him busy.
Survived by spouse Mary and children - John (Jenifer), Doug (Brenda), Greg (April), Jeremy (Devany), and 11 grandchildren. Also survived by his two brothers and three sisters.
Preceded in death by parents Royle and Vivian as well as his infant daughter Suzanne.
