Patricia Ann Thompson 1935 – 2018, age 82, passed away peacefully September 3, 2018 due to advanced dementia. She was born September 24, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William (Bill) Topham and Ethel Butler Topham. While a young child they moved to Rigby, Idaho. The Butler family had a ranch near Blackfoot, Idaho where she loved visiting with her Butler aunts and uncles. She was 10 years old when her family moved to Rexburg, Idaho where she spent the rest of her childhood and graduated from Madison High School in 1953. She loved to dance which helped her become a cheerleader in high school and also for the one year she attended Ricks College. As a teenager she converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a stalwart, lifelong member and served wherever she was asked. She especially excelled in her Relief Society callings serving twice as President. She married Leland Thompson on June 28, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She had an engaging personality and made many friends wherever she went. She was kind, compassionate and happy. She loved animals – especially several dogs that held a special place in her heart. Pat delighted in being with her husband Lee who was an officer in the Air Force which led them to live in many places including Washington, Oregon, England, Utah, Spain, Idaho and Nevada. The last 40 years they have lived in Fruit Heights, Utah. She enjoyed watching BYU sports and the Utah Jazz. She was extremely patriotic and loved her country very much. Growing up, all she ever wanted was to be a mother. She was the best mom ever to four sons and a daughter. She is survived by her eternal companion Leland Thompson; her brother and sister-in-laws Carol and Wes Christensen, Marilyn and Robert Moss, Keith and Beverly Thompson; her children and their spouses Jett and Paula Thompson, Brett and Patty Thompson, Janet and Dean Clark, Jerome and Ann Thompson, and Lance and Rachel Thompson; her sister Dolores Holley; her grandchildren Whitney Thacker, Lauren Bergstrom, Aubrey Thompson, Mara Hicken, Jared Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Lydia Flores, Derek Thompson, Kirsti Frandsen, Mariah Vialpando, Adalyn Pilling, Jacob Thompson, Brynley Thompson, Kristyn Jordan, Andrew Clark, James Clark, Daniel Clark, Jeron Thompson, Mercedes Thompson and Belle Thompson; plus her 20 great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and they loved her. Please join us in honoring her life at a viewing on Friday evening September 7th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington,Utah. A viewing will also be held Saturday, September 8th from 11:45-12:45 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Fruit Heights 6th Ward chapel, 77 South Orchard Dr Fruit Heights, Utah 84037. We would like to thank those who cared for her at Beehive Homes of Syracuse and Brighton Hospice care for their love and service in her behalf. She will be interred at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park September 10th, 2018.
