Jessie May (Lish) Ball passed away in the home of her daughter in Gilbert, AZ after a short battle with cancer on May 29, 2019. She was 91 years old. Jessie was born on March 29, 1928 in Deweyville, Utah to Lloyd and Viola Lish where she was one of 13 children. She graduated from Bear River High School. After high school, she started working at Hill Air Force Base, where she met George Ball. They were married on November 21, 1953, settling in Woods Cross, Utah, where they raised two children, Alan and Debra. George and Jessie were inseparable until his passing in 2017 after 63 years of marriage. Following George's passing, Jessie moved to Arizona to live with her daughter, Debra and her family.
Growing up, Jessie earned the nickname "Slim" from her family because she was always so skinny. Back in the day, she played softball, and was a fabulous pitcher for a women's softball team called the Shamrocks. Jessie was a devoted wife and mother, her husband and her children meant everything to her. George and Jessie were avid campers and they could often be found, with their kids and extended family, in their trailer up in the Uinta Mountains, or down in Moab for their annual Easter trip. Jessie also had a love affair with the Utah Jazz. She never missed a game on TV, and could often be heard giving the team advice on how they should be playing.
Jessie is survived by her children Alan Ball (Jana) of South Jordan, UT, and Debra Huber (John) of Gilbert, AZ, and 6 grandchildren, Stetson, Dakota, and McKinsey Ball, and Jacob, Zachary, and Noah Huber. She is also survived by her younger siblings Junior, Ray, Kent, Marion, Judy, and Karen. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her older siblings Renae, Luella, and Barbara, and younger siblings J. Harry, Virginia and Joe.
