Elgin Dee HandyAugust 13, 1932 ~ September 5, 2017 (age 85)
Elgin Dee Handy returned to his Heavenly Father on September 5th 2017. He was surrounded by the love of his life and his children. Handy he was! You name it and he could fix, restore, or build it. Dee was born August 13th 1932 in Bountiful Utah to Elgin Day and Margaret Handy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war from February 1952 – December 1953. He received his bachelor of education degree from Utah State University, and later his masters from BYU. He inspired many students during his time as a teacher, and was also a positive influence on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the LDS church where he faithfully served in many callings. He married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1955 and together they raised four children in a home that he built in Sandy Utah. Dee and Shirley later served a mission in Sandy, and then for 16 years served as temple workers in both the Jordan River and Draper Temples. Survived by his wife Shirley Ray Handy, (Children) Sherryl (Scott), Jim (Stacy) Brett (Grant) Julie (Dave), 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In all he did, Dee served honestly and honorably everyday of his life.
