Sandra Lynne ParmeleeOctober 2, 1942 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 74)
Sandra Lynne Parmelee, age 74, loving mother and grandmother passed away September 30, 2017 in Provo, Utah. She was born October 2, 1942, in Eugene, Oregon, the oldest of six children born to Charles Lenthal Carpenter and Gertrude Annabelle Hetherington.
She graduated from James Lick High School in San Jose, California with the class of 1960. She then attended Brigham Young University. She married Richard Lewis Parmelee on May 5, 1961. They raised 5 children and later divorced. After taking a break from her education to raise a family she continued her studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where she received her RN degree.
She worked as a nurse for many years in various fields including, labor and delivery, psychiatric, public health and home care.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities in the ward and stake auxiliary organizations.
She loved music and participated with various church choirs. She spent much time reading and enjoyed quilting and the close association with her many friends who shared this same passion.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons and their spouses-Linda and Jim Leary (Jessup, MD), Debra and Reed Nelson (Charleston, WV), Rick and Toni Parmelee (Kennewick, WA) and Brian and Tina Parmelee (Aurora, CO); and 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; MOTHER: Gertrude Carpenter (Woodbridge, VA); SISTERS: Judith Fox (John), Wendy Beaman (William); BROTHER: Ken Carpenter (Sheril).
She was preceded in death by her son Jeffry Allen Parmelee, father, sisters, Christy Duke and Peggy Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Mac McGrath.
Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bloomington, Idaho, cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
